ALL THINGS CONSIDERED
JIM CHEVALIER
In just five weeks or so, Jim will be ordained a deacon. The ordination Liturgy will take place at St. Mary Cathedral in Lansing on Saturday, May 10 at 10 am.Since we have all had a hand in helping Jim prepare for this Sacrament, I want to extend an invitation to all of you as well.
Jim will make his "diaconal debut" by assisting at the 4:30 Liturgy that evening and at the 9 & 11 am Liturgies on Sunday, May 11. So those who are unable to attend the ordination itself can congratulate him after the Liturgies of that weekend.
I would also ask that all of us remember Jim in our prayer (along with the six others who will be ordained with him in the same ceremony.)
SACRAMENT of PENANCE
One of the great beauties of the Sacrament of Penance during this season of Lent is its effect. If I have truly sought to turn away from sin and to be faithful to the Gospel over these forty days, then the celebration of Penance celebrates the effectiveness of that effort. It also makes the renewal of our Baptismal promises at Easter truly meaningful. For Sacrament is a "second Baptism" a way for penitents to be restored to the holiness of their Baptism.Over the next weeks, there will be several communal Penance Services in our region:
Mon. April 7 - Holy Spirit, Hamburg 7:30 pm
Wed. April 9 - St. Mary, Pinckney 7:30 pm
Thurs. April 10 - St. John, Hartland 7:30 pm
Sat. April 12 - St. Patrick, Brighton 9:00 am
Mon. April 14 - St. Mary Magdalen 7:30 pm
For those who would like to celebrate the Sacrament individually, I am available in the Reconciliation Chapel from 11 am 12 Noon on the Saturdays of Lent.
I sincerely hope that it will be possible to make our Lenten penance complete by celebrating this Sacrament of Gods mercy.
OUR STARS
For the next couple of weeks, there will be a poster of all the service projects of our Religious Ed kids in the Gathering Area. I hope you will be as impressed as I have been!!Fr. Dave Howell
Please remember in your prayers John Reineke and family in the death of his mother, Corrine Reineke.

PALM SUNDAY READINGS cycle B
Isaiah 50:4-7
Chapters 40-55 of the Book of Isaiah contain the message of a prophet who spoke to Gods people during their exile in Babylon. Several times the prophet speaks about a servant who will one day deliver Gods people. Because the Servant is portrayed as suffering, Christians have traditionally identified Jesus with Him.
Philippians 2: 6-11
We have in this passage one of the most beautiful sections of Pauls letter to the Philippians. He wants the members of the community at Philippi to work harder at unity and humility. To teach this he quotes an early Christian hymn about Jesus.
Mark 14: 1- 15:47
This terrible, lonely hour was the hour Jesus had been waiting for from the moment of His baptism in the Jordan. The contrast between the acclamations of the crowd now and their curses later should not escape us. The liturgy places both acclamation and curse on our lips today, and thus dramatically reveals to us how fickle the human heart is and ---how much in need of redemption.

STEWARDSHIP BY THE BOOK
When Jesus heard about the illness of His friend, Lazarus, He responded, "This illness does not lead to death; rather it is for Gods glory, so that the son of God may be glorified through it." Every aspect of our lives, our sufferings as well as our gifts, can, if surrendered to Christ, lead to blessing for others and ourselves.
Sacrificial Giving
Presently we have 938 families registered in the parish and 617 families have made their stewardship commitment, which is 65%. If you have not returned your commitment card, please pray about the sacrificial giving you will be making weekly/monthly and return the card (which is in your yearly Sunday Contribution packet the first page) either by mail or the collection basket on Sunday. The Finance Council

Thank you to everyone who came out for our Spud Night last weekend. The teens had fun getting ready, serving, and cleaning up. We raised over $700 for our trip this summer.
I also want to thank all of the parents who volunteered their time to help make the dinner a success. Without their support it would not have been what it was. There is one more special thank you to Lisa Schifko, who volunteered her time and expertise with the food prep, cooking and setting up. She was an instrumental part of the day!
Mr. Kevin Walters, who visited with us two weeks ago, will be returning to talk with us. The teens enjoyed his visit, so he has generously offered to come back.
Last week we began sharing the pictures the teens have taken with their donated cameras. Having the camera with them made them realize just how much He is there. Many God moments, as I call them, cannot be caught with a camera but only noticed with an open heart and mind by those who know His love. The teens are aware of that and what a wonderful thing it is to know that at their age.
