All Things Considered

by Fr. Dave Howell

ASCENSION THURSDAY is this week. This holy day of obligation celebrates the ascension of Christ back to the Father and our hope to follow. The 9 am Liturgy will be at the rectory chapel, the 7:15 pm Liturgy will be at the little church of St. John. It's located at M-59 & Hacker Rd. (This will be the last time we will use the little church.) MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND Next weekend marks the traditional start of the summer season. It will also mark the change of our Mass schedule. Starting next weekend, the Liturgies will be at Saturday 4:30 Sunday, 9 am and 11 am.

MAKING THE MOVE While the township could hold up our occupancy permit, we are still planning on everything going well. The plan is that we will be moving into our new building on Saturday, May 30.

We will need to move the offices, the chapel and meeting room into the new building. I am hoping that several people will be able to help us make the move starting at 9 am. The sign up sheet will be in back this weekend and next.

The Worship Team also had an insightful discussion about the move. As anxious as we are to move into our new building, there will also be a certain measure of sadness in leaving Farms. It is the place where this community had its beginning. We have gathered for Liturgy there week after week. We shared our faith with our children and each other. We have celebrated several Baptisms, First Communions and Confirmations in that space. We have worked together, prayed together and been formed by the Lord in that space. When we leave Farms, we will be leaving a place that has been very important in our development.

Our plan is that we will use the Liturgies of Pentecost weekend (May 30\31) to formally take leave of Farms. At the end of each Liturgy, we will pray a prayer of thanksgiving for our time there and impart our blessing and best wishes to a place that has been made holy by what we have celebrated. We will also invite people to take some of those things we have accumulated there back to our new building. By the time we finish the 11 am Liturgy, we will have removed everything to the building. Then we will be ready to begin "our new life" on Monday. MANY THANKS!! to those who helped last weekend. We were able to clean up several areas on the property. There were over 45 men, women and young people.

Thanks to all of you for your hard work!
