ALL THINGS CONSIDERED
THE GIRLS OF BRIGHTON
On behalf of all of us I would like to congratulate the girls softball team from Brighton High the new state champs!! Amazingly, the girls soccer team came "just this close" to achieving the same title! Two members of the softball team are also parishioners: Darcie Thomas and the outstanding (and much photographed) second base player, Sarah Milosek. I suspect we will be hearing more about these two!
Congratulations to all the female athletes of Brighton High.
HOPE FOR THE EARTH
Next Sunday is the last of the series on Sustainability, a Christian response to the environmental challenges of our times. The speakers are people involved with the renovation of the motherhouse of the IHM Sisters in Monroe. Those planning to renovate, remodel or build might especially find their presentation helpful to your planning. The presentation will be here next Sunday in the Social Hall!THE BEAUTIFUL BARN!
Many, many thanks to those who gave up part of the last two Saturdays to paint the barn! We appreciate (and admire) your work, thanks!WHERES THE GREEN??
Last weekend, one of the kids asked me that. He was wondering why I wasnt wearing green, if we were back to ordinary time! (I was impressed!!)Three feast days pre-empt the 11 13 Sundays of Ordinary (meaning "counted") Sundays of the Church Year.
Trinity Sunday, comes the Sunday after Pentecost, and celebrates the revelation of God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
This Sunday, the Feast of the Body of Christ (Corpus Christi) reminds us of how we are strengthened on our lifes journey. We are fed with the Body & Blood of the risen Lord!
Next Sunday is the Feast of Ss. Peter and Paul. It is always celebrated on June 29 and when it falls on a Sunday, it replaces the regular Sunday celebration.
A SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY: What makes that feast extra special for us is that it is also the anniversary of the founding of our parish! Therefore, next Sunday, we turn 10 years old.
Fr. Dave Howell

Sts. Peter and Paul, Apostles
Acts of the Apostles 12:1-11
Here, Peter is imprisoned not because of a crime he committed, but because his accuser King Herod felt it politically advantageous to persecute the church so detested by the Jewish leaders. But Gods hand was clearly at work in the survival of the early church.
2 Timothy 4: 6-8, 17-18
Paul writes in prison, aware that his life as an ambassador for Christ is rapidly coming to an end. This, his last letter is addressed to the one who will take over his mission. It is a deeply personal letter in which a great man looks back over his life and prepares for its end. Paul ends hid final testament with praise; "Praise to the Lord who more than once rescued him from the lions mouth!"
Matthew 16: 13-19
Here is one of the most important passages in the gospels. Jesus is firmly identified by his disciples as the Messiah, the anointed One promised by God as savior.

"Whats in a name?"
Name recognition is a major component in our world today. There exists a need to connect, to let people know what youre about. The name BeFriender Ministry could leave the impression you need to be provided a friend, as if you dont have any: or that life is in such turmoil you cant meet the challenge. These are NOT the reasons you might want a BeFriender. Sometimes, those we are closest to, so feel our pain, or have a vested interest in the outcomes of our lives, that it prevents them from just receiving where were at without judgment or fixing.
Having a trained, supervised, pastoral listener that provides a confidential place to have feelings, fears, and challenges heard and received, provides a space to identify problems, find the wisdom, courage, and grace within to allow growth through whatever life transitions we may find ourselves in.
These ARE some of the reasons you may want a BeFriender minister. If you wish further information for yourself or others please call Judy Scharf (248) 889-0274.

The Motherhouse of Invention press release
While driving around Livingston County among so many new stores, houses, condos, and apartments, have you also noticed all the new churches being built, added to, or renovated? When those who believe in God as our Creator undertake these kinds of construction projects, do we have any different considerations than anyone else?
When faced with their need to transform their Motherhouse to respond to the aging and health care needs of their members, the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) were sure that they DID have many extra considerations. After several years of research, discernment, and prayer, the Sisters were inspired to renovate their home and renew their campus in ways that would express their commitment to sustainable living. A sustainable way of life means that the needs of the present are met without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The Sisters took this as a moral mandate.
On Sunday, June 29th, the Charity and Justice Team of Saint Mary Magdalen will feature Danielle Conroyd, the IHM Sisters project manager and Lynn Rogien, the project manager from the Christman Company as speakers. They will describe this transforming project as the sixth and final workshop in this series on environmental subjects.. The workshop will be presented here at St. Mary Magdalen at 6PM.

STAFF TRANSITIONS
For the last three years, our parish has benefited from the training and experience of Anne Williams, who has served as our director of the RCIA process. Anne has decided to enter a doctoral program, which will surely be very time consuming. As a result, she has decided that she can no longer continue as our RCIA director.
For several years now, Diane Kubus has increasingly taken on more and more responsibility for the Liturgical life of our parish. She has been training Liturgical ministers, organizing schedules and keeping people informed of any changes that affect their ministry. Beginning July 1, Diane will become a part time member of parish staff as Liturgical Coordinator. In this role, she will work with Fr. Dave and all our Liturgical ministers so that the quality of our worship continues to improve and inspire.
For the coming year, Diane will serve as RCIA Coordinator as well as Liturgical Coordinator. Diane has worked with the RCIA team for several years now and has a good sense of the process. Moreover, since the Liturgical rituals are an important part of the process, the two roles seem to fit together.
With the support of our RCIA team, our parishioners and staff during this coming year, Diane will be a very able addition to our parish staff.
While we will miss Annes guidance of the RCIA, she will continue as a spiritual director, lector, BeFriender Minister trainer and parishioner!
