JOURNEY WITH JESUS For weeks now, Sr. Maryetta and her enthusiastic crew have been preparing for our vacation Bible school: Journey with Jesus! Over 125 are registered for the week-long event, but a large number of adults have also volunteered to help with the project. I know it will be a positive, fun-filled experience for everyone involved. I hope we will keep all our "Journey-ers" in our prayers.
ON THE MOVE AGAIN! Since June 20, Char Turowski has had a crew at the rectory. They have transformed it from offices back into a house. Now that they are finishing up, I am moving again.I would like to thank all those involved in the project, especially Char & Bill Turowski, Pete & Joe Lintzenich, Dick & Mary Ellen Walker, Don Eagle, Kathy Reichardt, Maureen Thomas, Barb & Bill Colley, Andy Grimson, Bob Barclay and Dan Schifko. Some of our younger people have lent a hand as well, including Christopher & John Bisoski and Andy Turowski. (I know there are probably a few more, but my memory fails me.) But I am truly grateful to all of you who have helped!
This makes the fifth move in five years! First I lived at St. John. Then I moved into the rectory which served as our offices, our meeting rooms and my home (kind of). Then I moved into the duplex, then back to my bedroom in the rectory. Finally, after five years I actually get to unpack my things and I have a home that I don't have to share with the staff and 20-30 other people a day!
I knew when I came here that this is the way life would be for a while, but it is nice to have a home now. I mention this for a couple of reasons.First, because the office and rectory phones are separate. The answering machine in the office gives the "home phone number", so if I am needed I can still be reached. The second reason is to make a point. Now that the building is complete, some have wondered if I'll be re-assigned. That will happen some day, but for right now I am more than content to finish unpacking and settle in for a while. I am tired of moving and glad to have a home! Fr. Dave Howell
