08-20-00 ALL THINGS CONSIDERED CELEBRATING 40 YEARS OF SERVICE Next Saturday evening, we will honor Sr. Maryetta's forty years of service during the 4:30 Liturgy. It will be a celebration of gratitude for her service to the people of God (especially the little people). During the Liturgy, she will renew her vows as a Sister of St. Dominic (Dominican). It seems especially appropriate that we should celebrate this occasion with her. She has been so instrumental in creating and developing our Religious Education Program. She has also been very involved in so many other activities as well. I invite you to come to the Liturgy and to the reception that will follow in the parish hall. Come celebrate 40 years of service! CELEBRATING the SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE Next Sunday at the 9 am Liturgy, we will honor all those couples who celebrate a significant anniversary this year. Not only will we pray for them, but we will also invite them to renew their marriage vows. It gives us the occasion to honor the faithful witness of these husbands and wives who have dedicated themselves to the vocation of marriage. It also gives us the opportunity to thank God for the "sermon on love" taught by their life together. The insert included in today's bulletin gives you the list of those celebrating significant anniversaries this year. (It is as accurate as the information given us.) Please look it over -- and remember them in your prayer! THE VOICES PROJECT For over a year now I have been a part of a project that will take two more years to complete. The task is the creation of a strategic plan for the Diocese of Lansing. Hopefully, the project will be a massive one, involving 15,000 or more people from all 95 parishes across the diocese. We are asking people to voice what they see as the opportunities, issues and challenges facing the Church. From all that is said, we will create a set of priorities and then a series of specific strategies to accomplish them. This whole listening or input process is called the VOICES Project (meaning vocalizing opportunities, issues & challenges > envisioning strategies). And that whole project will begin here on Thursday, August 31, from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. I am asking as many as possibly can to participate in our VOICES Session. Not only will it help my Strategic Planning Commission by giving our VOICES Session a trial run, it will also help in our parish's efforts to plan for the future. As a personal favor to me, I ask you, if you possibly can, to participate
on August 31. Thanks! 1-800-MASS-TIMES Celebrating Liturgy Sunday, August 20 Monday, August 21 - Pius X, pope Tuesday, August 22 - Queenship of the Virgin Mary Wednesday, August 23 Thursday, August 24 - Bartholomew, apostle Friday, August 25 Saturday, August 26 Sunday, August 27 Thursday, August 24, St. Bartholomew, Apostle and Martyr.
