ALL THINGS CONSIDERED
FAREWELL, MARILYN
This weekend, Marilyn Rhadigan will assist with Baptisms for the last time and then "ride off" into the twilight of her early retirement. God alone truly knows all the lives she has touched in her eight years of ministry among us. But again, I want to thank her for her faith filled service to all of us!Fortunately, Marilyn will still be around as a volunteer. She will be assisting us as we enter into an adult formation program called RENEW. The program made of five or six sessions will occur in the fall and winter of the next two and half years. The sessions will give us an opportunity to reflect on the weekly Scripture readings and the meaning of Gods word in our lives.
While some are "gone and forgotten" when they leave their positions, neither will be true of Marilyn who will certainly be around and fondly remembered for all she has done!
WELCOME, SR. JOYCE On Monday morning, Sr. Joyce Hoile will be joining our parish staff. She is a Franciscan Sister from Tiffin, Ohio. She has worked in parish ministry for several years and comes to us with a wide variety of experiences.
Sr. Joyce will be working with our adult formation and evangelization team, preparation of parents for the Baptism of their infants, our senior parishioners and Community Life Team. She will be working with Anne Williams and the RCIA team in helping to prepare adults and older children to enter the Church. She will also be working with the rest of the staff on a variety of special projects.
I hope you will join me in welcoming her!
MANY THANKS to all of you who were a part of Marilyns farewell reception and the funeral luncheon on Monday (for almost 350 people). Your generosity in providing some wonderful food for these two occasions was truly magnificent!
VACATION Unfortunately, as Sr. Joyce arrives, I will be leaving for vacation. Ill be going out to a cottage I purchased months before my sister and nieces came to live with me. After the work is done, Ill be coming back to take them out to the cottage for a little change of scenery.
Fr. John Graden will be here next weekend to share with you the ministry of the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging.
Ill see you on the weekend of July 13\14.

STEWARDSHIP BY THE BOOK
Both the first reading and the Gospel today speak of
hospitality and welcome. Our ministers of hospitality are a most visible example of using ones time and talents to welcome the people of God. But the Gospel assures us that all who give even just "a cup of cold water" to one of His lowliest ones will be rewarded.BeFriender Ministry
How many of us, when we are troubled, have wished to talk with someone about our problem. Perhaps we have failed to do so for fear of burdening others or are not looking for unsolicited, but well-meaning advice. We are looking for a confident who will be a good listener. Someone who will guide but not solve for that is all we want and need. For we realize that our problems must be solved from within.
The BeFriender Ministry is a caring Christian presence. They seek to guide not to advise using Christian principals. If you are in need of this help, Please call Judy Scharf 248-889-0274.

ON THE JOURNEY
Thank you again for allowing me to be part of your lives. While Ill be retiring from professional ministry, I will not be going far. Sr. Joyce Hoile will be starting officially on July 1. Many of you may already have had an opportunity to meet her. She comes with a wealth of experiences in ministry. It is my hope that she may find the same sense of community and family here that I have encountered these past eight years. Wishing you all Gods blessings as we continue to journey together.
Yours, Marilyn

Registrations are in the Gathering area for JWJ, our summer vacation Bible school! We will be asking St. John the Baptist Parish to join us this year as they are under construction and are unable to use their building this summer. Register early! Attn: T-shirts need to be paid for by July 12. This year we are going "buggy" as we go on safari to catch the buzz about Gods love for us! Help is needed in all areas, and the bugs we are working with are not the scary kind!
We still have families that have not registered for fall classes yet, and I know what you are saying, "its summer, give us a break!" Well, we had 698 people in classes last year, and we are already setting up classes and assigning catechists and aides for the fall! Some are even asking for the manuals to start lesson planning over the summer! Please make the time to register; in July we will have registration on Wednesdays from 9:30 am until 4:00pm. If you need an evening, please call me to set up a time. Some classes are filled, and we have a few openings in the Family Program.
We have had many sign up to help as catechists and aides for the fall. But, as always, to keep the excitement of sharing our faith with our younger sisters and brothers alive and to continue to nurture the growth in our parish, we still need you! Training is available before you walk into a classroom and everyone has a partner! Please consider joining our team of catechists and aides in Religious Formation as help of all kinds is needed; you tell me your strengths-and well use them! If you are interested in working with special-needs students, please call me.Mary

National Relief Network: Attend a week of service work. Members of our parish can participate in a service project to help poor people recover from some natural disaster. It is likely we will be going to Providence, Kentucky, a small town that was hit by a tornado. We will help to clean up the aftermath so that the community can rebuild.
Our trip, by motor coach, is scheduled for the week of Sunday, July 14 thru Fri., July 19. Our group would make up one team. The cost is about $325 per person, which covers the bus, food, and lodging (at a local church, camp, school, or someplace similar). Fund raising opportunities are available to cover individuals costs. One day of the trip is for relaxing and scheduled sightseeing. Contact Jan Carpenter at 227-5269.
Bring your empty bottle and cans for our bottle and can drive to the barn all this weekend after Mass. The youth participating in the NRN trip will be there to collect them and return them. Thank you in advance for your support.
The youth participating in NRN this summer are selling pizza kits. Call me at 227-7937 for more information or to order a kit.
It is hard to believe that July is already upon us. Celebrate the holiday safely. Travel with care and patience as sometimes others can get the best of us when behind a wheel. Take God with you in all that you do, He would like that.
I am looking for adults who are energetic and who love to work with teens; adults who are willing to share themselves, willing to grow and to be a source of support for the teens of our community. I am looking to create an adult team of volunteers to help in all aspects of running a successful program. If you are interested in becoming involved, there is a meeting scheduled for July 29.
M.U.D (6, 7 and 8 graders)
If you are interested in becoming an adult volunteer and more involved, plan to attend the July 29 meeting mentioned above. Call with any questions.

SAINTS FOR THE MONTH OF JULY
Monday, July 1, Blessed Junipero Serra, priest.
Junipero Serra from Magorca, Spain died in 1784. He was a Franciscan missionary who arrived in New Spain in 1750. He established nine of the California missions; and baptized over 6,000 native people. Junipero Serra is recognized as a builder of the state of California. Pope John Paul II called Fr. Serra "an exemplary model of the selfless evangelizer."
Wednesday, July 3, St. Thomas, Apostle.
His doubting gave way to faith when he saw the risen Lord. The Gospel of John is the most detailed in its inclusion of epistles involving Thomas. Little is known with certainty about his later life, although Eusebius asserted that Thomas preached among the Parthians in the East. This account is joined by a host of legends and traditions concerning Thomas missionary efforts in India, where he is still considered the founder of the Malabar Christians, the so-called Thomas Christians.
Thursday, July 4, St. Elizabeth of Portugal.
Queen of Portugal and a Franciscan tertiary (third order) also called Isabella. A native of Aragon, Spain, she was the daughter of King Redro III and was wed at the age of twelve to the corrupt and immoral King Denis of Portugal. Overcoming the difficulties of her marriage, she earned the respect of the monarchs of the Iberian Peninsula for her abilities to negotiate ends to disputes and conflicts. For these efforts, she was called "the Peacemaker." Pope Urban VIII canonized her in 1625.
Friday, July 5, St. Anthony Mary Zaccaria, priest.
Born in Italy, Anthony became a medical doctor. In 1528 he was ordained a priest and co-founded the Barnabites, (the regular Order of St. Paul), so called because it was headquartered in St. Barnabas Monastery in Milan, for the reform of society. Anthony popularized the forty-hour prayer ceremony, promoted the use of altar sacraments, and introduced the ringing of church bells on Friday.
Saturday, July 6, St. Maria Goretti, virgin, martyr.
Maria was stabbed to death while resisting the advances of the son of her fathers business partner. Born in Italy, the daughter of a farmer who moved the family to a town near Anzio. There a youth who lived in the same house, tried to seduce the young Maria. When she refused him, he stabbed her repeatedly. Arrested for murder, he was imprisoned and experienced a vision of Maria. Her cause was opened because she was credited with some forty miracles after her death, she was canonized by Pope Pius XII in 1950 as a model of purity.
