ALL THINGS CONSIDERED
BUILDING A VISION
When people begin to build their dream house, first they come up with a basic design for the structure: a floor plan and a general sketch of the exterior. But before starting the actual construction, it is necessary to have detailed blue prints that show how the dream house will be turned into a reality. Otherwise, it will soon turn into a nightmare.Parish communities are not "built" the same way. In fact, when I came to start the parish ten years ago, I first spent some time talking with other "founding pastors" to find out how they started. What I discovered was that all of them had only a vague idea of what they thought the parish should be when they started.
That is why I decided it would be helpful if all of us who came together to start the parish had a common, clear vision.
25 small group meetings, with over 400 people resulted in 15 pages (small print, narrow margins) that expressed the hopes and dreams of those people. From those notes we crafted our Vision Statement. It is that vision that has guided all our parish leadership from the beginning.
DIRECTIONS 2003 The Vision statement only serves as a general sketch of what we are trying to build here. So each year, we go back to it and reflect on what needs to be done to move us closer to making it a reality.
On Wednesday, September 4, our Pastoral Council will be bringing together all of our planning teams in an annual assembly called Directions 2003.
Each of our planning teams will look at the Vision statement and ask themselves what is their part, their responsibility in making our Vision a reality. From this, they make their plans for the coming year.
I ask all those who were chosen to serve on a council or who signed up to serve on a ministry team last spring to plan on attending Directions 2003. It is an important part of our creating a parish community that serves the mission of the Lord Jesus in proclaiming and building up the Kingdom of God!

OF FAITH AND SERVICE
Eucharist
Giving a smile, saying "Hi"! Is giving Eucharist.
Listening fully to someone who needs to talk, is giving him or her Eucharist.
Visiting the sick and the lonely, doing good deeds, is giving Eucharist.
Accepting yourself, forgiving yourself, is giving you Eucharist.
You cant only talk Eucharist or philosophize about it, or dogmatize Eucharist. YOU DO IT.
Sometimes you laugh it, cry it, and sing it.
Eucharist is as simple as being on time, and as profound as compassion. You see it in anothers eyes, you pause it in the middle of a busy day, and you squeeze it in an embrace.
I give you my supper. I give you my bread. I give you my life. I give you me. I give you Eucharist.
Respectfully, Sr. Joyce
I would like to extend a very special thank you to Dennis Tierney and Austin Inc. Embroidery, Screen Printing and Promotional Items, for our AWESOME t-shirts for Journey with Jesus! Dennis has donated his time and materials for many years so that our youth have these shirts as a reminder that Gods love for us is cool! (oops that was last year) This year we were able to print bugs all over our shirts as we went on our bug safari to catch the buzz about God! Parents are reminded that we have extra pictures of children on the table in the Gathering area for you to have! Some t-shirts remain to be picked up also.
