Weekly Bulletin

Old Bulletins

SEPTEMBER 11 This week there will be several different commemorations of last September 11. Some will use the media and others will be civic and prayer services remembering those who died in the terrorist attacks of last year.

We will mark September 11 as a special day of prayer.

9 am: There will be a Prayer Service at 9 am. It will include both prayer and quiet reflection.

12 noon: A Rosary for Peace

7 pm: A Special Liturgy will be celebrated to pray for all those harmed by the terrorist attacks last fall, both the living and the deceased. At the end of the Liturgy, we will process outside to the new flagpole. After blessing the flagpole, we will raise the flag for the first time. I hope you will join us.

Private Prayer: As always, the Blessed Sacrament Chapel will be open all day long for private prayer. (The chapel entrance at the back of the building, is always open — day and night)

KNIGHTS of COLUMBUS We would like to thank our K of C members for their special gift to our parish: the flagpole. Last year, after 9\11 I spoke with several of our knights and it was decided that they would like to erect a flagpole to commemorate that tragic day in our national history.

The money to purchase the pole was collected from the knights, the 6th grade bake sale, and a few other parishioners. It was erected just this past week in time for this Wednesday’s commemoration.

We would like to especially thank Dan Schifko, who led this project as well as the other knights who worked with Dan to "raise the flag".

RENEW is a program that offers adults and teens the opportunity to come together to reflect on the Scriptures and our faith and to grow in their understanding.

Renew is a process of gathering people together to reflect on the Scriptures and how we might live them better. It is meant to help us live better lives as mature Christians with understanding and confidence.

Over the next few weekends you are invited to sign up to join a small group of other adults for just six weeks. These groups meet in homes for two hours each time; to reflect on the Sunday readings, what they mean and to share how we might live them out during the week.

Please consider giving just 12 hours this fall to Renew your life! I can’t think of a better way to grow!! Thanks!!

BeFrienders

The word "ministry" is defined as the act of serving others. Our task, within our faith, has grown with the increased involvement of the laity in the church. The BeFriender ministry seeks to reach out to others beyond the traditional setting of the Sunday Mass. This is not a ministry of professionals but members of the family of Christ reaching out to help others within the family. If you are troubled or seeking help with a problem, please contact Judy Scharf at 248-889-0274.

How does a person become a member of the Catholic Church?

Every Monday evening, RCIA INQUIRY sessions provide a pressure free forum where participants can ask questions and, as a group, explore answers to any issues relating to the faith, to explore and dispel many of the stereotypes and misunderstandings. The sessions are a comfortable environment to raise and explore many topics, some controversial and complex, a chance to really question and begin to understand what it means to be Catholic.

IF you decide the Catholic faith is the path to further nurture your spiritual growth, and decide to continue the RCIA journey to become a member of the Catholic Church, the next step is the Catechumenate, with the Rite of Acceptance on November 24. However, at any time, one can decide the time is not right and there is no pressure to continue the process. The journey is what is right for you, we are here to support and guide your journey, whichever direction it may take you.

WE welcome all who are seeking to Inquiry sessions Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. for Adults, 7:00 p.m. for Children and Youth. Join us on September 16, and the following Mondays to explore the Catholic faith. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, Anne Williams, at 229-8624 or email me at rcia1@ismi.net.

"SHARING YOUR FAITH"

Sharing and learning more about my faith. Giving support and watching someone grow in their faith. If you like sharing your faith with others than maybe being a sponsor is part of your journey in faith. For more information on becoming a sponsor, call Ann Fraser, (517) 545-9279 or for information on other areas of RCIA involvement including hospitality team, the retreat team, catechist team and others, contact Anne Williams, RCIA Coordinator 229-8624 or e-mail rcia1@ismi.net.
